After much anticipation Shamshera finally arrived in cinemas. The story is set in 1800s India and tells the story of the titular character, who becomes a slave then becomes a leader for his tribe. The film is set in Kaza, a fictional city where a dacoit tribe fights for independence from the Britishers.

Ranbir plays Shamshera the title role. This marks his return to silver screen after four years of Sanju. Trailers, promos, posters and trailers have already generated buzz about the film. The film will be released in cinemas in all three languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, on 22 July.

Advance Bookings

Ranbir’s starrer is showing decent advance bookings reports. According to Bollywood Hungama it sold 23000 tickets up until Wed night at the national chains PVR and INOX. If this is true, then final ticket sales seem to be lower than Kartik’s total number. Varun’s JJJJ is the most popular in terms of ticket collection. These properties have a 40% lower ticket price for Shamshera than JJJ.

Screen Counts and Budget

The film was made with a budget of Rs 150 cr. It also has the largest screen count post-pandemic. It is released on 5550 screens around the world, including 4350 in India and 1200 abroad. It surpasses the domestic screen counts of Samrat Prathviraj (3750), Sooryavanshi (33519), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (3200), and Sooryavanshi (33519).

Box Office Collection Day 1.

Shamshera is expected to open at Rs 12 crores based on the advances. However, Shamshera is a mass entertainer that caters to a large audience. Because there are so many screens that don’t open the advances, it will be a lot about walk-in audiences and spot bookings. The actor’s popularity and the film’s scale make it possible for the film to bring in a collection of between Rs 14-17 crores on its opening day. It has the potential to surpass Kartik’s BB2 Day 1 Collection to become the highest grossing opening day of 2022 (Bollywood).
